I’m so glad you’ve come to visit my website.

My writing journey started when I wrote my first song at fifteen. This led me to Nashville and a career in the music field. My storytelling skills were honed through countless nights telling improvised bedtime stories to my three children. When I was forty-nine, I heard an inspiring New Year’s message where the speaker asked two questions. What are you dreaming of? And, what are you doing about it? On a plane trip a few weeks later, I started writing on a notepad; whatever came to mind. Every time I sat down to write was like reading an unfolding story and I couldn’t wait to get back to another writing session to see what would happen next. That turned into The Last City. It took me nine months to draft and another six years to learn how to be a writer whose writing I could enjoy. The Last City is a rousing space-themed swashbuckler and the first of what will be at least three books in the Ahlemon saga.

To give you an idea of my writing influences, my preferred reading has ranged from Dr. Seuss to mythologies, superhero comics to sci-fi, and fantasy to spy thrillers. As a boy, I read all of the Wizard of Oz stories in one summer, the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogy the next summer, and the Dune series the following year. My favorite authors include George McDonald, J.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, J.K. Rowling, Michael Crichton, John Grisham, Tom Clancy, Robert Ludlum, James Rollins, and Matthew Reilly. In The Last City, I simply wrote a story I wanted to read.

Born in southern California, raised in the Midwest, and a resident of Nashville for over 30 years, I now live in the charming woodland community of Kingston Springs, Tennessee. I enjoy kayaking the Harpeth river, landscaping our yard, watching movies, playing my guitar, making tacos for family and friends, and helping my wife, Lori, with our two Tennessee Walkers, Gideon and Asher, Otis the donkey, and our four Buff Orpington hens, Gladys, Aretha, Billie and Etta.

I’m working on book two of the Ahlemon saga and hope to release it in the spring of 2018. Please sign up to my email list to receive updates about my writing.
